Adopt a street
The City of Destin’s Adopt-A-Street program enables local families, businesses, and community groups to provide a valuable service to the community by taking over sections of streets to keep them trash and debris-free. Groups participating in this program will be listed by name on the city’s website and signage will be posted on their voting street. For more information, call 837-6869 or email email@example.com.

“Hail Our Heroes”
Meet reenactors from across the US and learn about WWII history, examine vehicles and equipment, enjoy a free victory dance with a live big band, watch American GIs “liberate” an occupied French chateau and attend regular “briefings” on WWII events, battles and numbers at this April 22-24 Crestview event.
Hail Our Heroes takes place Fridays from 12pm to 6pm, Saturdays from 10am to 6pm and Sundays from 10am to 12:30pm at Twin Hills Park at 100 Hathaway St. N. Crestview. The Victory Dance is from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. Saturday and the non-denominational field service is Sunday from 12:30 p.m. to 1:45 p.m.

Big boulevard farmers market
The Grand Boulevard Farmers Market is held every Friday and Saturday from 9am to 1pm in Grand Park in the heart of Grand Boulevard in South Walton. Bring your shopping bag and stock up on local produce, eggs, jams and cakes. Homemade soap, good olive oil and pickles are available to take away.
Rosemary Beach Farmers Market
Browse Sundays from 9am to 1pm at the 30A Farmers Market in Rosemary Beach. The local farmer’s market is held on Sundays year-round and Thursdays during the summer months at North Barrett Square along Scenic 30A.
Impasto painting course

pull fire truck
A fire engine train in aid of assisted living at the Twin Cities Pavilion begins April 23 at noon with team check-in at 3rd Planet Brewing at 1400 E John Sims Parkway in Niceville.
Any community group or company can compete in either division, with the open division intended for more serious competitors. A team consists of 10 people who pull the fire truck 15 feet once. The best time wins! Several community organizations join forces to complete fundraising for a major project at TCP. There will be two food trucks, raffles and music.
The peak season will come to a cinematic finale on April 30 at the Destin Fort Walton Beach Convention Center when you experience the magic on screen with the original Raiders of the Lost Ark, featuring John Williams’ epic score live to the imagery of Sinfonia Gulf Coast . Saturday in the park
The Heritage Museum 46th Annual Saturday in the Park. 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. April 30 at 115 Westview Ave., Valparaiso. Admission is free.
Shop at local food and craft vendors, as well as the museum’s bake shop. Outside there is live music, a car show and much more.
The event’s 5K run/walk will begin at 8:00am and finish at 9:00am to clear the roads of all event traffic. To register for the 5K or become a seller, call the museum at 850-678-2615 to register and pay.

Scurto book signing, ArtQuest Festival
Destin writer and illustrator Andi Scurto, author of “The Accidental Adventure of Mattie the Giraffe,” will host an artist meetup event and book signing at the ArtsQuest Fine Arts Festival May 7-8 in Miramar Beach.
“I’ll be displaying all the original illustrations from the book, have little souvenirs like Mattie mugs and cards, little artworks featuring Mattie that I’m calling ‘Mattie calves’, and I’ll be painting a giant Mattie piece where her spots start drain,” said Scurto.
The 34th Annual ArtQuest will be held on Saturday, May 7, from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Sunday, May 8, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Grand Boulevard Town Center, Grand Boulevard, Miramar Beach , Florida. Admission is a $5 donation.
Niceville Senior Center Foundation Prom
The Niceville Senior Center Foundation will host the second annual Senior Prom for Senior Center members (55+). She and her guests will enjoy light hors d’oeuvres, music and dancing, commemorative photos and the coronation of Prom King and Queen.
An Evening Under the Stars will be held on Friday, May 13 from 6pm to 9pm at the Senior Center at 201 Campbell Drive.

Emerald Coast Community Theater’s Jr. Thespian/Company Showcase on May 21 at 2:30pm – featuring group and solo work by ECTC teens. The evening includes classical and contemporary music theater pieces, improvisations, comedy and drama.
