Do you need a computer or free or cheap internet access at home? The library’s Digital Navigators can help you find affordable options for broadband internet and devices. Friends of the Chatham Public Library’s “Library of Things” launches in June 2022 with tools, games and gear for Chatham and Canaan users to borrow for free with a library card. They’re asking community members to fill out a short survey at to let them know what kind of things they want to borrow from the library.

Special programs for children

Summer Craft: Sand Art June 23, 2-3pm. Discover sand art by making your own colorful sand using chalk and salt. Then use the sand to create layered bottles or dry paint pictures (5-11 years). Register for all library summer reading programs at

Renewable Energy STEAM Workshop – Water Wheel 2pm-3:30pm June 30th. Join author Kathy Ceceri as she explores different types of green energy systems and learn about their history and uses today. Ongoing programs for children

Shake & Shout Toddler Story Time 10:30 am 29. Join others for a lively, outdoor story time while you sing, dance and read a book together. For 2-4 years. No registration is required for this weekly programme.

Preschool Story Time 10:30am June 24th Friday Story Time moves outdoors this spring (weather permitting). Join Miss Becky for stories, songs and a take-home craft. No registration is required for this weekly programme. In bad weather, this program takes place inside the children’s room.

LEGO Club June 27 4pm. Join the LEGO Club. From 5 years. What are you going to build today? Maybe something for the library to show in their display case. This program takes place in person in the children’s room of the library. No registration is required for this weekly programme.

Special programs for adults

Monday Night Book Club on Zoom at 7pm July 11, Albert and the Whale: Albrecht Dürer and How Art Imagines Our World by Philip Hoare. Columbia-Greene Workforce NY Outreach Appointments 11am-3pm June 23rd. Calling Local Job Seekers and Students! Adult Craft Night: Embroidery 101 6-7:30pm June 27th. Meet new people and discover your creative side. This month, learn two basic embroidery stitches to make a simple embroidered piece based around this year’s summer reading theme, Oceans of Possibility. Introducing Google Tools: Creating and Editing Visual Presentations with Google Slides June 28, 1:00 p.m. This monthly series of programs is designed to help participants learn basic computing skills and access free online tools developed by Google. Mah Jongg Club Mondays at 10:30am and Wednesdays at 2:00pm. Join the Mah Jongg Renaissance. Fully vaccinated players can meet up in the library every Monday and Wednesday. Absolute beginners, email the library at for more information on scheduling a 90 minute lesson.
