Old School is now Atelier/Gallery | arts and entertainment – 71Bait

On the east side of Highway 101 in the quaint community of Neskowin, a one-room former schoolhouse sits majestically on a hilltop and lures passers-by with a grand entrance.

The 100-year-old school is now a modern gallery and studio where artist Michael Schlicting paints and sells his work. Like the landscape surrounding the building, bursting with the bright colors of the perennials and shrubs, the gallery is awash with colour. Abstracts of nearby Proposal Rock, vivid fish in a sea of teal, Tuscan vineyards and a colorful sky over the Pacific Ocean hang harmoniously in the small but open space.
