Chesterland Winter Festival

The Geauga West Rotary Club and the Chester Township Trustees sponsor the annual Chesterland Winter Festival at the Chester Township Pavilion in the Park on the corner of Mayfield Road and Chillicothe Road.

Join the community members for park lights for the holiday season. Enjoy complimentary hot chocolate, hot cider, popcorn, seasonal music, and a campfire. In the event of heavy rain, it will be omitted.

Bainbridge Christmas Lights

Bainbridge Civic Club hosts the Bainbridge Holiday Lighting Ceremony at the Heritage Park Gazebo, 17870 Chillicothe Road. The event will include Christmas Carols with Kenston Varsity Jazz, a visit from Santa, hot chocolate and cookies, and children’s activities. The Bainbridge Historical Society is hosting an open house at the Bissell-Tucek House from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m

Support the holiday food drive by bringing a bag of non-perishable groceries to the ceremony, which will benefit the Bainbridge Area Food for Friends pantry.

Audubon monitors Mentor Marsh

Join Blackbrook Audubon on her monthly IBA (Important Bird Area) walk at Mentor Marsh State Nature Preserve. Meet at the entrance gate to the utility line access road at the junction of Woodridge Lane and Forest Road in Mentor Headlands. It will be a closed group birding program.

The Chardon Square Association hosts the 7:00pm Chardon Square Park Illumination and the arrival of Santa in a horse-drawn sleigh. The event includes performances by the Geauga Music Center Band at 6:30 p.m. and Chardon High School Free Harmony at 7:00 p.m

The Pilgrim Christian Church serves a Chili Dinner from 5pm to 7pm. The Chardon Area Chamber of Commerce serves hot cider and biscuits.

Chardon Square is at the intersection of State Routes 44 and 6.

Entrepreneur Success Breakfast

Annual Christmas Sale

The Middlefield United Methodist Church holds its annual Christmas sale at the church at 14999 South State Ave., Middlefield. Parking is available behind the church.

There is a wide range of new and used adult and children’s clothing, holiday tableware, books for all ages, DVDs, toys, stuffed animals, crockery, knick-knacks, holiday decorations, puzzles, coats, purses and jewellery.

Breakfast with Santa Claus

The Rotary Club of Geauga West is hosting its 30th Annual All-You-Can-Eat Santa Pancake and Sausage Breakfast at the West Geauga High School Cafeteria, 13401 Chillicothe Road, Chester Township. Tickets are $8 per person at the box office. Children up to 1 year are free.

Take digital photos with Santa or bring a camera. The event includes Christmas music, face painting, games and special guests Rudolph and Santa Claus.

Proceeds support Rotary community projects and local activities.

Breakfast with the Klausen

Munson Township’s annual Breakfast with Santa and Mrs. Claus is held at Munson Township Hall, 12210 Auburn Road.

Pancakes, sausage, juice and coffee are served. The cost is $8 for adults and $5 for children ages 4-12. Children under 3 years are free.

Images featuring Santa will be available on a $10 Jump Drive, with proceeds going to Boy Scout Troop 91.

Festival of the Trees

3, 4, 10 and 11 December, 12 noon to 6 p.m

The Middlefield Historical Society hosts their Festival of Trees, an enchanted forest of beautifully trimmed trees, shimmering lights and festive Christmas decorations at the historic 1818 Century Inn in Middlefield, 14979 South State Ave. Visitors can vote on People’s Choice.

Admission is free; Donations are accepted. There will be sales of live poinsettias, flower arrangements and raffle tickets for multiple prizes.

The site is also a drop-off point for the Merry Middlefield Grinch – bring new, unwrapped toys during opening hours on December 3rd and 4th.

Visit the depot for a free peppermint ice cream cone; Limited flavors of other ice cream treats are available at half price.

Stars Basketball League

GCRTA Holiday Brunch

December 6, 9:15 am

The Geauga County Retired Teachers Association meets for their holiday brunch at the St. Mary Banquet Center, 401 North St., Chardon. After the business meeting, a traditional breakfast buffet will be served at 10:00 am, followed by a Toys of Yesteryear program presented by member Kathy Doyle. There will be a 50/50 raffle and a free lunchtime raffle.

Reservations are required by November 26 by mailing a $19 check made payable to GCRTA to Judy Miller, 17130 Kinsman Road, Middlefield, OH 44062. Inform Judy of any dietary restrictions.

All retired school staff are eligible to join GCRTA. Consider bringing a newly retired person or guest to the meeting. Members are asked to bring paper products or canned goods for the Geauga Hunger Task Force.

Geauga County Work and Family Services will offer the Sponsor-a-Family vacation program. To make a donation, mail a check made payable to Special Services of Geauga County to Jobs and Family Services of Geauga County, PO Box 309, Chardon, OH 44024.
